The deadline is close, we’re in the middle of the last production week. The animation is clean and coloured, the backgrounds are finished — now we’re concentrating on composing the scenes, abuse our plug-ins and add some sounds. And if we manage to get everything done by Saturday, we’ll add a bonus scene. Happyhappy – Joyjoy!

The folks over at Gobelins have an incredible output! I love the design and the sentimental colours , the music supports the action perfectly, and the animation is A++, as usual.

Only one scene left to clean. Phew! Next week we’ll concentrate on compositing. While I was looking for reference material for the backgrounds I found this old photo:
“What the heck has this to do with the Animation Tag Attack episode,” you ask. Nothing.

“(…) As Hepburn’s career soared following her Oscar-winning US debut in Roman Holiday, Willoughby became a trusted friend, framing her working and home life. His historic, perfectionist, tender photographs seek out the many facets of Hepburn’s beauty and elegance, as she progresses from her debut to her career high of My Fair Lady in 1963. Willoughby’s studies, showing her on set, preparing for a scene, interacting with actors and directors, and returning to her private life, comprise one of photography’s great platonic love affairs and an unrivalled record of one of the 20th century’s touchstone beauties.”

Soundless Symphonies from Keys of “Organ” Projected on Screen Are Hailed as Birth of a New Art
THE audience sat in hushed and wondering expectancy within the darkened theater. Without accompaniment of sound, soft color suddenly glowed upon the screen. Slowly it moved into definite form, its modulation of figures evolving in majestic sweeps. Its hue deepened and then melted radiantly into iridescent crimson, and from the restless, ever-changing shapes a slow rhythm was born. It grew and blossomed, a symphony of light, plastic and mobile. The “clavilux,” as Thomas Wilfred, the inventor, has named the organ, opens the door to a new art, the expression of moving color and form, which the artist-craftsman believes is destined to take a place as a sister of music and sculpture. It has long been the vision of dreamers; Mr. Wilfred has actualized the dream and provided the instrument that visualizes it. (…) Source: Popular Mechanics / Issue April 1924
Christina Maria is currently in the top 20 of a big Canadian music contest called the Peak Performance Project and the runner up to win 105.000 candian $. As a part of the PPP she has to deliver a small clip telling the world about the project, and to go vote.
Our friend in combat Christen Bach helped her realizing this viral clip for the past weeks and now it’s done:
And here’s a silly kind-of-making-of. At the end you can see a glimpse of our -at that time still unfinished- second KAISERBRAND office. The greenscreen shots of the mountain were done there, and some shots on our compositing workstations. Thanks for the credits by the way!
