This one is for all you Vfx geeks out there.

I flipped through my favorites earlier on this evening, and stumbled across a motherfucker of an add from april 09 for Philips new Cinema tv-set in glorious 21:9.

2 min and 19 seconds of pure VFX porn and cinema magic.
Philips Carousel – a short film from Adam Berg and Stink Digital.

I will not lower myself to post a crappy youtube clip here. It deserves to be seen in High Ress – But if you click HERE it will direct you to a homepage featuring the clip in all its glory.

And HERE is a small behind the scenes featurette made by FXguide-tv.

Damn, I’m still sitting in the office and missed the opening party of Parra’s exhibition at Pool Gallery. But hey, if you don’t earn money you can neither afford tee shirts nor paintings ^^

Parra
“I Like The Tee Shirt but I Will Get The Painting”

Opening: 27 August 2009 19 – 24h
Exhibition: 28 August – 10 October 2009

@ Pool Gallery
Tucholskystraße 38
10117 Berlin Mitte

Arkitip, Pool Gallery & Wood Wood present Parra’s first ever Exhibition and Pop Up Shop in Germany. 32-year-old Dutch
illustrator and designer Parra has decorated the Amsterdam underground with his playful, bizarre graphics that span a
broad base of themes, from introspective to audacious and bawdy. The mostly self-taught artist channels vintage forms,
yet with a decidedly modern, post-pop approach and a distinctive, hand-drawn feel. His vibrant images and typography
can be seen on prints in various exhibitions around the globe, on a flyer for a club near you, on the sleeve of a record,
or on limited-edition tees and sweaters.

Some of you may know my “different” taste in music. I’ve found some nice videos on youtube that describe quite well why i think going to concerts of Lady Gaga & co is boring ^^
(maybe turn down the volume of your speakers)

I hail the creators of this glorious piece of animation. the worlds GREATEST lego-clip (so far). And we are not talking Gondry and the White stripes. Frankly I never thought highly of that video, even though i am both a fan of the Stripes, Gondry & Lego.

But this, Ladies and gentlemen, is a sweet flashback to the 8-bit days in full glory. Word on the net has it that it took around 1500 hours of hard labor to finish it. It is made by Tomas Redigh and the song was written by Daniel Larsson. Good job you guys. Beam me up on the fanbase.

I’ve just received an email concerning a special screening of Pixar’s “Up” and a Q&A with director Pete Docter and producer Jonas Rivera. But I suppose the movie will be in German (with the mind-blowing title “Oben”), so I won’t translate the instructions of how to get into this sneak preview.

Doing research for a project (I was looking for eyeglasses) I stumbled across these supercool shot glasses:

animal-glasses.jpg

Go wild with these stunning black glass shot glasses. Each one features a pewter animal head: Bull, Bear, Moose, Deer or Rhinoceros. All are designed to balance on their nose and ears/horns when flipped. Can also be used as a candle holder, paperweight or simply decorative. Individually boxed for great gift giving (price covers a single shot glass). From the Japanese design form Good Grams, the “gram” represents not the value of weight but the “weight of value!”

Once you see them you must have them ;)
