
In the early 20th century, artists like Emil Nolde, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Georg Kolbe or Max Pechstein were intrigued by exotic craftworks from Africa and Oceania. The Georg-Kolbe-Museum is showing interesting works of art in connection with mundane pieces like books, posters, photos or advertisements to reveal the western image of those fantastical foreign countries.
